Hi Emily1
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting pictures and talking about your big adventure. I found your blog while searching for photos of Vance base housing. My fiance just told me we have a house as of September 6th which is perfect because we are getting married the 1st and return to Enid the 7th. I would have done a little of my own drive by (photo)shooting but I'm in SC till the wedding and my hubby-to-be just doesn't understand my need to see the house before hand. I hope everything is going well and you are enjoying your new home.

Oh super exciting! It was driving me nuts not to find any pictures of the insides, or outsides of the older homes before we moved in they only had pictures of the newer homes which was killer because we got here and they were like... actually you wont be living in those homes.... But this house is nice how they updated them! We'll have to get together once you get to Vance! :)
DeleteHey i too found this page by looking for floor plans for house there. We have been looking and have found very little for floor plans for this base not sure if its becuase they are updating there website or what. We pcs out of Elmendorf AFB in december and get the enid in the middle of january. Im hoping to have a house when we get there unlike what happened when we got up here to alaska. Thank you for the pictures of the house but i have one question. We are a family of 4 and i see from the picture at least it looks like your a family of 3 so would that mean that we would get a 4 bedroom house? we have a 5 bedroom right now but thats only becuase we are living in a handycap house cause its all they had ready to move in when we were switching houses due to a pregnancy. Thanks for any answers you might have in advance.
ReplyDeleteSo It depends on how old your kiddos are. I think the air force has your kids if they are the same gender sharing a room until they are 10 and I think that if they are different genders its until the oldest one gets to be like 5-7. I am not 100% sure on that though. The people over at housing are really nice and will answer your questions, whatever they may be. If you haven't put yourself on the list do so soon. I hear that we are to getting an influx of students. I assumed you are an Officer family for pilot training right? :)
DeleteNo my husband is being stationed there as his next duty station he is hospital persanel. I wish he was an officer lol... our kids are different genders and from doing the research my husband has found out that its run by the same company that runs the housing up here in anchorage and there rule up here is they can not have the same room if they are different genders period doesnt matter an age. We havent gotten a hard copy of his orders yet thats why i havent called down there yet should be getting those in the next week or so. I was just hoping to have the extra room cause we have an extra room here and we use it as a play room keeps all the toys out of the living room lol. Thanks for the fast reply tho. Im honestly not very happy about were it is but i guess anything is better than alaska at this point... 6 months of winter with 7-12feet of snow fall and 6 months of summer.... yeah i would live any where at this point lol
DeleteSo y'all are enlisted then? You are at luck here at Vance. The enlisted is WAY nicer than student pilot housing. You are a lucky family!
DeleteYeah he enlisted. I just called the housing and they know about the http://www.vancefamilyhousing.com site being broken and she said they are working on it.. I hope we get orders soon tho so we can get on the waiting list. Do you know if there are any play date group pages on facebook or wife pages at that? theres about 500 of them up here but its a joint base with the army so that could be why. When i search on facebook all that comes up is flight group pages. sorry to be asking all these questions i just want to be prepared since i have a 2 going on 3 by the time we get there and my son will have just turned one right before christmas and i want to get them playing with other kids and makeing friends. Not much of the friend making up here as of right now we are a one car family but will be getting a second car while we are in washington.

also a play group meets on Thursday at the park most weeks.
This base is pretty small and everything is within walking distance :)There are a lot of students here that are one car families. We'll have a play date when you get here. Abby is almost a year and a half and loves playing! There are a lot of families with kids here too!
Thank you for the info!.. Would love to meet up with you Anna's birthday is right after we get there in march and when we get there in jan i want to try to get her to make some friends so she can actualy have a birthday party with people over lol just makes that sort of stuff funner when theres other kids her age there.. Im hoping that we get stuff situated faster there than we did up here.. Moved up here and i was 9 mo prego with her and had to unpack a house.. lets just say i had 0 modivation to do it! and we still have boxes in the current house cause again i was 8 mo prego when we moved into this house with my son lol.... so im hoping that not being prego will help me unpack stuff a little faster!
DeleteEmily, thank you so much for posting! I am moving to Enid in July to be with my "soon-to-be" husband who is in UPT. This was so helpful!
ReplyDeleteOH yeah! Do you guys have a house on base? :) and Yeah to getting married! I couldn't find any pictures of the older houses here on base, the ones that UPT students are more likely to get on the Housing website. :)
DeleteThat's the plan. I am finishing up grad school in DC and then my next stop is OK! I paroozed the website some and saw there were a couple possible floor plans, but I am assuming which house you get depends on what is currently or soon to be available out of the CGO options.
